What I appreciate about Tim Jackson is his clarity, groundedness, good humour and inspired presentation style. Here, he talks about the trap and dilemma of our current approach to economic growth. He takes us from the blind faith in our own ingenuity that is likely to further feed the economic crisis, to a new perspective – prosperity without growth.
Even if you have already read the book, do still watch this video…and look out for the giraffes!…;o)

This site seeks to explore the heart and soul of downshifting to a more sustainable, ethical and holistic way of living and working, in keeping with the needs of the planet, humanity as a whole and ourselves as individuals.

That was a really interesting talk. I agree we cannot carry on with the present growth model. I have to say that the way our business and economy are conducted at present I feel it is morally wrong to the point of inhumanity (keeping poor countries poor for instance) as well as unsustainable. Thanks for sharing. I will pass this video around :)
Thanks for posting this, Sally. A very thoughtful and perceptive talk which speaks to many of the obvious limitations of our current mindset. What I particularly liked was the optimistic conclusion – that we can make the changes required by becoming more human, not less…. Thanks, again.
Liz – Glad you enjoyed the video and that you’ll be letting others know about it. Thanks.
Steve – agree with you there about the conclusion. Rather heart-warming, isn’t it? :o)
